Haven

November 2022

An Exhibition by CommunitARI

This exhibition explored Tasmania as being a personal haven. This was interpreted in many ways. The artists worked in a variety of media from paint, markers, video work, sound work, embroidery, and digital work.

I was tasked with photographing the opening night.

Finucane & Smith’s Travelling Dance Hall

August 2022

Dance Hall is an internationally acclaimed travelling variety show consisting of dance, storytelling, singing, and other performance. Local artists are also recruited to join each show as they travel. This particular show took place at the Peacock Theatre in Salamanca, Hobart.

My role as photographer was to document the show (photos below).

The Festival of Voices
July 2018

Mama Alto.

Festival of Voices is a mid-winter festival held annually in Tasmania over two weeks. It's a celebration of voice that takes the form of several singing events, including the infamous Big Sing Bonfire event, which brings hundreds singing around the fire in Salamanca Place. This is always a highlight and reflects the core aim of the festival – to bring people together, not just as observers but as participants as well.

Mama Alto was selected as one of the artists to be included in Festival of Voices 2018. She performed in several events across the festival, dazzling audiences with her ethereal tones and soulful delivery, and I had the pleasure of accompanying her during some of it. We began with a photoshoot at Hadley's Hotel, an establishment rich in Victorian history and elegance. This eventually took us to the sound check at Hobart City Hall where I sat with my camera, and enjoyed being in complete awe of her performance.
